LIGNITE POWDER
Lignite Powder is a dry, ground, powdered lignite used in water based muds.
TYPICAL PHYSICAL PROPERTIES:
Appearance Brown to black free flowing powder
pH (1% soln) 4.5
Bulk Density 99.8lb/ft³
Moisture Content at 105 # 2 ºC 12 % max
APPLICATIONS:
Lignite Powder is used in water based muds as a dispersant and fluid loss control additive especially at elevated temperatures and pressures. Lignite Powder is stable up to 400°F and may be used in all types of water based mud systems.
Lignite Powder is normally mixed through the hopper at the rate of 10-15 minutes per sack. Normal treatments are in the range of 3-8 ppb.
PERFORMANCE:
1. Physical state The material shall be in the form of powder, Free from lumps and visible impurities
2. Moisture Content at 105 # 2 ºC, 12.0 (Maximum)
3. Dry Screen Analysis:
Fraction Passing through 72Mesh BSS or 95(minimum)
Equigalent Sieve,Percent by mass
4. Performance Test:
(a) Preparation of Sodium Lignite Solution Take 50 g of 72 Mesh (BSS or Equivlent) Powdered Lignite (on dry basis) and dissolve in 350 ml of Distilled Water containing 10 g Caustic Soda (AR/GR grade) with the help of Hamilton Beach Mixer, stirring at high speed for 30 minutes. Transfer if to 500 ml volumetric flask. Age this Solutionfor
24 hours at 24 ± 2 ºc and make the volume to
500 ml. Mix the Solution thoroughly to make it Homogenous before use.
TOXICITY AND HANDLING:
Bioassay information is available upon request. Handle as an industrial chemical, wearing protective equipment and observing the precautions as described on the Transportation and Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS).
PACKING:
Lignite Powder is packaged in 25 Kg paper bags.
